A little over 200 years ago, Hiram Ulysses Grant was born on April 27th, 1822 to Jesse and Hannah Simpson Grant in a one-room frame cottage in Point Pleasant, Ohio. Better known as Ulysses S. Grant, he grew up in Georgetown, Ohio prior to starting a military career at West Point. A life of courage, character, and commitment to the ideals of a young nation began here.
